What is the difference between gel polish and regular nail polish?
Gel polish is a type of nail polish that is cured (hardened) under a UV or LED lamp. Unlike traditional nail polish, gel polish only becomes hard when exposed to UV light and it offers a longer-lasting and more durable finish. It provides a glossy and professional-looking manicure or pedicure that dries instantly after curing in a nail lamp.
How do I apply gel products correctly and safely?
Before you apply gel polish products, make sure to follow these guidelines:
Make sure you educate yourself on how to apply gel products safely in order to protect yourself from potential allergies or sensitivities. Gel polish use requires a thorough application and attention.
- Gel polish products must not come in contact with the skin. Apply only to the nail plate.
- If you ever get product on the skin, clean off immediately with a wipe soaked in cleanser or remover. Do not cure the product on your skin.
- Gelpolish Factory products should be cured in no less than a 48W nail lamp with a wave length from 360-405nm.
- All our products must be cured for 120 seconds. It is very important you follow the curing times and use a strong nail lamp that cures the entire layer of product.
- If irritation occurs, stop use and seek medical advice.
- Do not apply gel polish if your nails are damaged or if you suffer from any nail conditions.
- Always follow our online guides where all necessary steps are explained.

Why doesn't it dry?
Gel polish only hardens when exposed to UV/LED light. It does not air dry like a normal nail polish.
If you experience a sticky manicure after curing in your nail lamp, it may be because you didn’t use top coat as the last step to seal in your manicure. Or because the nail lamp you used is not powerful enough.
Gelpolish Factory should be cured in no less than a 48W nail lamp. Additionally, you should alwayw follow the curing time of the product you’re using. Gelpolish Factory should be cured 120 seconds in a 48W lamp.
Lastly, make sure you use thin layers and cure properly in between. If the layer is too thick, it can cause the top layer to be cured but the product underneath is still liquid.
Why is it sticky after curing?
If you experience a sticky manicure after curing in your nail lamp, it may be because you didn’t use top coat as the last step to seal in your manicure.
Base coat, builder gel and gel polish all have a “sticky layer” that allow the products to bind to each other. Avoid touching the manicure with the sticky layer, just leave it and always use top coat as the last step in your manicure because our top coat does not have a sticky layer.
The issue could also occur because the nail lamp you used is not powerful enough or you did not follow the curing times of 120 seconds. Gelpolish Factory should be cured in no less than a 48W nail lamp and you should always follow the curing times stated on each product.
Can I use any nail lamp for Gelpolish Factory products?
No. It is super important that gel polish is fully cured, and that only happens by using a nail lamp that is strong enough for the specific brand.
For our products, you should only use a nail lamp that is 48W (min.) and with a wavelength of 360-405nm.
If you use a nail lamp that is too weak, the product will not harden properly, and you will experience issues such as a rubbery surface, the product lifting from the nail and wet spots.
Additionally, it is important to know that UV lamps weaken over time and get old. So if you have had your lamp for a long time, you may begin to have issues.
What is the difference between the big and small nail lamp from Gelpolish Factory?
It is super important that gel polish is fully cured, and that only happens by using the big 48W nail lamp and curing for the full 120 seconds.
The small 8W lamp is only used to “flash cure” our soft gel tips and attach them before fully curing the gel in the big lamp. You should never try to fully cure the gel in the small 8w lamp.
If you use a nail lamp that is too weak, the product will not harden properly, and you will experience issues such as a rubbery surface, the product lifting from the nail and wet spots.
My product is too thick/thin
Remember to shake the product well before use.
Gel polish consistencies vary from brand to brand. If you think the product is either too runny or thick to your liking, you can soak your gel polish bottle in warm water to make it runnier or put it in the fridge to make it thicker.
Do not apply gel polish in direct sunlight or expose the product inside of the bottle to direct sunlight as this hardens the product and ruins it. Do not place the bottle in front of your nail lamp without fully closing it.
Why does my gel polish dry in the bottle
The gel can start to solidify in the bottle and on the brush if you apply it in direct daylight, where the sun’s UV rays come into contact with the gel polish – E.g. if you are sitting by a window. Gel polish will harden regardless of what type of UV light hits them. Therefore, it is important to shield from possible sunlight and not sit by a window or outside. Likewise, the brush must always be placed back in the bottle when you turn on your UV lamp to cure the applied gel. This ensures that the product in the bottle itself does not receive UV light.
